9TH ANNUAL QUAKER STEAK & LUBE DIRT TRACK HEROES SHOW & HARMONY TOWNSHIP TO HONOR CAR VAN HORN

Big Show Planned March 6-12, 2016. . . . . .

The dates and show schedule are now confirmed for the popular ninth edition of the week long Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show for 2016 and the hard-working staff is putting all of the necessary pieces in place to produce another great show. The successful event will once again begin its week long run at the Phillipsburg Mall located off Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, New Jersey beginning on Sunday, March 6th and will run through March 12th. The upcoming show encompasses the majority of the local short track scene and has become a must go to event in the local Tri-State area. Quaker Steak & Lube, located a mile East of the Phillipsburg Mall, has once taken the lead sponsorship for the event and throughout the show will be offering up some discount coupons for the race fans to head on over to Quaker Steak & Lube and enjoy a tremendous diverse variety of entrees and their famous wings and sauces and get re-charged and re-fueled before or after the show.

The opening day of the show will find a tremendous opening as Richie and Joel Smith will be offering a demonstration on their sharp looking and quick racing Stage One Modified race car. Smith and Company will once again be back at the Hamlin Speedway in 2016 as their home track and is coordinating a schedule to do additional traveling this year.

The headline show of the day will be the gathering of racing legends at approximately 1 PM to talk about their racing days at the Nazareth and Nazareth National Speedways and to honor Hall of Fame Modified legend, "The Belvidere Bandit" Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn. Van Horn was a fixture on the dirt circuit for five decades and earned track championships at Nazareth and Orange County. He planned and built the Harmony Speedway and Dragway in 1963, built his own race cars and motors and was a threat to win wherever the famous signature numbered 71E showed up to compete. He captured wins at Nazareth, Orange County, Lebanon Valley, Pittman-Alcyon and Reading to mention a few of the race tracks where he was victorious. Carl promoted Harmony Speedway and Dragway and the Lake Mocatek Speedway. Carl will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to auto racing from Dirt Track Heroes and Harmony Township, New Jersey, where Carl is a long standing resident, has proclaimed March 6, 2016 to be designated Carl Van Horn Day and representatives from the township will be on hand for a presentation to Carl.

For the ninth consecutive year, IRCO Community Federal Credit Union will once again lend their solid support to the popular show. IRCO was formed in 1966 and has grown in leaps and bounds to it's present state today. Greg Collins, vice president at the Phillipsburg, New Jersey based IRCO Community Federal Credit Union and the noted historian of the Harmony Speedway remarked, "It is a genuine thrill to be honoring one of my racing heroes Carl Van Horn. Carl did it all in racing and it is fit and proper to honor him as his contributions to racing and his legacy remains with all of us whoever watched him a turn a wheel at a race track."

Vince Valeriano from VRP Shocks will offer a free seminar of his great line of shock products to close the opening day of the show. Valeriano's seminar last year was well attended and offers his knowledge and technology to those who want to fully understand the workings of his excellent products.

The Phillipsburg Mall has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and will once again offer many varieties of new and vintage race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the Mall for the duration of the show's run.  The eight previous shows have brought out race cars from all divisions of motorsports filling the Mall space as the past, present and future of racing have been highlighted in a week long show celebrating the love each of us has found in attending races and meeting so many wonderful people associated with the sport.  With an exciting and diverse schedule of events to whet the appetite of any true race fan, large crowds are expected to flock to the show to fill the wide walkways of the Phillipsburg Mall for the upcoming ninth edition of the show.  This event is truly a Mall favorite and one of the leading attractions, continuously drawing outstanding crowds and successful events promoter Bob Miller and his wife Donna spearhead the hard working staff of individuals responsible for the continued success of the show.

The Dirt Track Heroes Car Show will again offer a great keepsake event souvenir program book and shirt.  The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM; Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
