THUNDER ON THE HILL TO CLOSE OUT 2015 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17

HALLOWEEN PARTY OFFERS NEW TREATS FOR FANS & COMPETITORS, DO YOU DARE TO BE PART OF. .  “MODS AT THE MADHOUSE”
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Halloween Party will return to Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, October 17, filled with far more treats then tricks as the season finale will offer a different format.  For starters, the program will have just three divisions that include the 358 Mods/Big Block Modifieds, the Sportsman and TSRS Sprints with all three divisions competing in heat race qualifying events that will lead up to a 40 lap 358 Mod/Big Block Modified feature, a 25 lap Sportsman feature and a 25 lap TSRS Sprint feature.   Gates will open at 4 PM with heat race qualifying getting underway at 6 PM.

The three division racing program is designed based off suggestions and comments from race fans throughout the season.    There is no doubt, the Grandview fans love their Modifieds and they were very vocal in the re-vamping of the Mods at the Madhouse thriller.  This event will bring together the 358 Modifieds and the Big Block Modifieds in an event that is “sure to grab you”.

For the 358 Modifieds, the weight rule will be 2,275 lbs. if you are running gas, 2,350 lbs. if running alcohol.  For the Big Block Modifieds, the weight is 2,500 lbs.   Competitors may use American Racer tires, 33 or harder on the front, left rear is 44 or harder and right rear 48 or harder.  Drivers may also compete on Hoosier tires, D300 or harder.  No mixing of tires, you must run all four American Racers or all four Hoosiers and any track stamp is welcome.     Both the 358 Modifieds and Big Block Modifieds shall follow the standard body rules and sail panels are not permitted.

For the “Mods at the Madhouse”, they will have an open draw for heats with the top twelve heat race qualifiers will take part in a re-draw for the top twelve starting positions in the feature event.   Following the top twelve starters, the field will line-up straight up based off the heat race and consolation finish.

The “Mods at the Madhouse” will go 40 laps with a treat of $5,000 going to the winner -- if pre-entered, $1,000 for tenth and $500 just to start the twenty-four car field.  If the winner is not pre-entered their winners share will be $4,000.

There is no entry fee and no fee to draw.  Competitors may call 443-513-4456 to pre-enter by October 10 and you will earn $5,000 if you’re the winner.    There will be double file restarts up to lap thirty-eight and if needed, single file restarts with two laps to go.    Some additional Halloween treats are being arranged at this time.

“We’ve been inundated with requests from fans and drivers to add more Modified events that are open to all competitors,” explained Thunder Series co-promoter Bob Miller.  “We’ve listened to those requests and altered our previously scheduled event to accommodate the fans and teams.  Bruce Rogers and I have put together a fun Halloween themed promotion and an event that spreads the wealth throughout the field.”  This payoff is very similar to what the Thunder Series posts for their 410 sprints.

The Sportsman are also on the schedule with full heat race qualifying, a consolation and a 25 lap feature event.  Sportsman rules are American Racer: Fronts 33 or harder, Left Rear 44, Right Rear 48 or harder – any track stamp is permitted.    The 25 lap sportsman feature will pay $1,300 to the winner. The Sportsman weight rule will follow the weekly rules, 2,450 with steel wheels, 2,500 with aluminum wheels, 2,375 for  604 Crate Sportsman and 2,375 for 602 Crate Sportsman with aluminum wheels.

The TSRS Sprints will be part of the program, also competing in heats, a “B” Main and a 25 lap feature event.

A complete schedule of events will be provided but the order of features will be the Modifieds, Sportsman and Sprints.

Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats, a tradition of this event for many, many years.  The Halloween Party remains a big part of this event.

Celebrating the 26th season of racing action, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series always includes fun for the fans with activities such as: Pre-Race Pit Tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can sign-up to watch hot laps from the infield, the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet & Greet, JOE “THE PIZZA DUDE”, giveaways, fireworks, and appearances by the Thunder Girls.   Jim Gallagher and GALCO Communications always take part in offering some special fun for the race fans.
