THIS WEEKEND AT THE BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Friday night racing will see action on both the 5/8 mile track as well as the quarter mile as the Hilborn Tri State Race Saver Sprint Cars (TSRS) join with the 600cc ad 270cc Micro Sprints and 4 Cylinder Enduro cars for full racing card.
The TSRS competitors will race on the Bridgeport Speedway in qualifying heats and a twenty lap main event. Karl Freyer, two time TSRS Champion, Mike Hagenbottom, Kyle Reinhardt, Dave Brown, Adam Carberry and Kyle Purks have all claimed TSRS wins at Bridgeport this season but no one has been able to repeat on the Logan Township oval. Will there be a repeat winner this week or maybe another name will be added to the list of winners!
Andrew Locuson moved within four points of leader Luke Thomas when he picked up his sixth win of the season in 600cc Micro Sprint action on the quarter mile track last week. Joe Dopke rebounded from a first lap incident to claim his fifth win of the season in the 270cc Micros and add a few more points to his slim lead in that division. Joe King Jr. found his way to Victory Lane in his second appearance on the quarter mile in 4 Cylinder action.
Racing gets underway at 8pm on Friday.
Calling all football fans! The Bridgeport Speedway will host a pep rally for the Philadelphia Eagles during intermission on Saturday night as the birds near their season opener. Fans are encouraged to wear their Eagle green to show their Eagle pride on Saturday.
Youth Footballl participants will enter as guests of the Speedway on Saturday night if they are dressed in their team jersey.
Eastern Autoparts Warehouse sponsors the night of racing as the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds, 811 Dig Safely Crate Sportsman and the Stewart Stainless Outlaw Stocks take to the 5/8 mile speedway for a full show of racing action. Matt Harrell picked up his first win of the season in the Big Blocks last week, leading the way in front of the likes of Dominic Buffalino, Wade Hendrickson, current point leader, Jimmy Horton and Tommy Beamer to the checkered flag. CJ Jones was a first time winner this season in the Crate/Sportsman Division over Ricky DiEva who is still looking for his first win of the season. Jimmy Avery and Jeramy Doerr, the top two contenders in the Outlaw Championship battle, each picked up a win in the Twin 12 lap features for the Outlaw Stocks.
As part of the racing program, there will be a race on the 1/4 mile for the Mechanics. The guys who normally turn the wrenches will be turning the steering wheel in their special feature event.
There are always plenty of winners at the Bridgeport Speedway as t-shirts and food prizes are awarded throughout the night.
A very rare and unique happening will take place before the races start on Saturday evening. Outlaw Stock competitor, David Kramer will be exchanging vows with his fiancé, just prior to the start of the racing program. The entire Outlaw Stock field is set to bring their cars out on the frontstretch for this September wedding, as they take part in this joyous occasion.
Matt Harrell, Clyde Cox, Sr. and Ken Watson, Sr. will represent the three divisions as they welcome fans to the Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday night. All three competitors will have their cars on display at the main gate and will be available for pictures and autographs before the racing action gets underway at 7pm.
