MOMENTUM BUILDING FOR MODIFIED MAYHEM AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Sicklerville, NJ (August 3, 2014) –  In only a few short weeks, Modified cars will return to Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile  track with Modified Mayhem. Slated for Friday, August 22, the event will include any type of Modified Stock Car from Crate/Sportsman through Big Block Modified competing on the tight confines of the inner oval at Bridgeport Speedway. Over thirty drivers have expressed interest in the race. The latest list of expected participants includes several feature winners in 2014. Richie Pratt, Jr, a May 17 winner on Bridgeport Speedway’s outer oval, is planning to be on hand. Scott Ambruster, who won his first career Big Block Modified race at Bridgeport Speedway on May 31, has added Modified Mayhem to his agenda. Travis Hill, a five-time feature winner and current point leader at Bridgeport Speedway, is preparing his family owned Sportsman car for this special race.

In addition, many drivers who call Bridgeport Speedway their home will test their skills on the smaller track embedded within the five-eighth mile track. Expected Modified Mayhem participants that are Bridgeport Speedway regulars include Corey Andersen, Brett Ballard, Bobby Bracall, Billy Briggs, Matt Budd, Don Cogdill, Stan Frankenfield, Sean Gunther, Scott Hulmes, Mike Iles, Bob Lilick, Jr, Matthew Peck, Brad Roberts, Ron Roberts, Jeff Sargent, Pete Serra and Jack Swain.

Also, a host of invaders have placed Modified Mayhem on their 2014 schedule. Lou Cicconi, a winner of an Open Modified race on Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile on September 16, 2011, has added Modified Mayhem to his busy racing schedule. Ricky Wegner, a former New Jersey resident who lives in Western New York, will be making the long tow from the Buffalo, NY area to Southern New Jersey. Ken Eckert, a competitor at Grandview Speedway in the Sportsman class, will be returning to Bridgeport Speedway on Friday, August 22.  Paul Hartwig, who has competed in Enduro events on the quarter mile at Bridgeport Speedway, will be making a run for the first place prize.  Lauren Emmons, a Crate Sportsman competitor at New Egypt Speedway, is looking forward to her first race on the tight confines of the inner dirt oval at Bridgeport Speedway. Other non-regulars expected to be on hand include Steve Davis, Dale Hawkins, Matt Hawkins, Ryan Simmons and Kevin Vaclavicek.

Along with the purse, several additional awards will be up for grabs. Black Flagged Racing will be awarding trophies to the top three finishers.  ERK Steering, a steering box repair company owned and operated by Eric Kormann, has generously donated a $50 gift certificate for the victor with $25 gift certificates awarded for the eleventh through fifteenth place finishers.  Jones Racing Products has graciously agreed to offer a $50 gift certificate to the runner-up and to the recipient of the Hard Luck award. CTS Lawn Care is sponsoring a $100 Hard Charger Award to the driver, other than the victor of the feature, who advances the most positions from his or her starting spot.

Giveaways will be doled out to non-racers as well. As a unique offering, Flower Transfer Logistics of Sewell, NJ will be donating a dozen red roses to be given to the victor’s wife, girlfriend or Mom. Hats will be given out to the fans courtesy of Certified Laboratories.
