PAUCH JR. WINS PRELUDE TO COAL CRACKER FOR FIFTH VICTORY OF SEASON, HAUS WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE AND TITLE, BECKER IN ROADRUNNERS

MINERSVILLE, PA - August 17th, 2014

Scott Haus scored the Late Model point Championship Friday evening at Big Diamond Speedway and did it in fashionable style as he also scored the evenings feature win.  Haus drew the pole in the rewdraw and lined up with Steve Nederosteck on the outside and brought the field to the green.  Scott quickly put his red and white number 21 in front of the field and never looked back.  Nederostak would be challenged by Bryan Bernheisel and on lap 11 Bernheisel took over the runner up spot, but 4 laps later, Andrew Haus would take that spot and give the Haus family first and second place finishes for the evening.  Bernheisel would finish third followed by Steve Nederostak and Grant Adams.  Scott Haus is your 2014 Slifko Fabrication Services Points Champion, finishing second in the points was Steve Nederostak, with Danny Snyder, Andy Haus and Billy Wampler rounding out the top five in points.

The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 358 Modifieds had their chance to get their cars ready for the upcoming Coal Cracker 72 event by running in the 2nd annual Prelude to the Coal Cracker.  Doug Manmiller drew the pole alongside Billy Pauch Jr. and took the field to the green flag.  Pauch would quickly take over the top spot and pull away from the field for the win.  Manmiller, Craig Von Dohren, Frank Cozze and Rich Laubach would battle it out for the runner up spot, and it was Manmiller who would take 2nd place at the finish line, followed by VonDohren, Cozze and Laubach.

Frank Cozze was the overall victor in the one-on-one match races for the top 11 in points, taking home a set of four Hoosier tires for his efforts.

The Savage 61 Roadrunners saw Jeremy Becker and TJ Fitzpatrick bring the field to the green flag.  Becker would take over the top spot honors and Fitzpatrick would fall to 2nd and feel pressure from Kris Ney.  The pair would swap the 2nd spot back and forth numerous times.  Becker ended up taking home the win, Kris Ney would  earn the runner up spot followed by Fitzpatrick, Tom Hablett and Jim Kost.  Becker is the current points leader in the class, followed by Chris Holland, Jim Kost, Shon Elk and Tim Fitzpatrick JR.

Racing returns to Big Diamond Speedway this coming Friday, August 22nd, featuring the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Sportsman, Savage 61 Roadrunners, and the Enduro Dash cars.

For the Modifieds and Sportsman, it will also be championship night, with the season long point battles decided in both divisions.  In the Modfieds, just 69 points separate the top 3 of Rick Laubach, Duane Howard, and Billy Pauch Jr., with Frank Cozze, Kevin Smith, and Meme Desantis still mathematically in the hunt.  It would be the first Big Diamond Speedway point title for everyone listed except for Howard, who is going for his 8th track championship.  In the USS Achey Sportsman, just 33 points separate the top 3 of Wayne Witmer, Tim Fitzpatrick, and Doug Handricks, with Billy Moyer Jr., Clay Butler, Shawn Light and Kevin Beach still in the mix.  For everyone but Hendricks and Beach it would be their first Big Diamond Speedway track title, while for Hendricks and Beach it would be their second.

Gates open at 5 PM, with warm-ups at 7:15 PM and the first heat hitting the track at 8:15 PM.  Adult general admission is $15.00, seniors and students ages 13 to 17 are $13.00 (both with valid ID), while active military (with ID) and kids 12 and under are free.
