The IRCO Community Federal Credit Union Seventh Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales completed the sixth day of the week long journey for the racing community and head into the finale on Saturday with a tribute slated for Ken Brenn Sr and the Brenn Family through the efforts of the Flemington Speedway Racing Historical Society. The Friday event highlighted a tremendous two event day that lasted right up until the Mall closed for the evening. The seventh annual edition of the show will continue through March 8th with sponsorship through IRCO, Smith Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds, Martocci's Automotive, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Kim's Kreations, R&F International Muffler and Brake, Persa Auto Repair, Murante Auto Repair, Penn Jersey Super Markets and Auto and Enterprise Car Sales.
Nightly interviews and 83 race cars provide the race fan a full appetite of racing fun before the regular seasons begins. The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and offers a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show continues to be free of charge to the mall traffic and the 2014 edition of the show is the trend setter of the many shows that are scheduled during the year. Kim's Kreations Lettering and Apparel will be the presenting sponsor for the final day of the show.
Emcees Ed and Steve Pados opened the show and introduced IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd. Collins once thanked the local racing community for their support and talked of the various offerings from the IRCO group and once again thanked everyon e for their continuous support of the annual event. Penn Jersey Supermarkets and Auto sponsored yesterday's events and have been a loyal supporter of the event for the past two years.
Ed and Steve Pados along with Bobby Stull were honored to interview a great panel of driving legends from the local area and beyond during the first show. The show played to a full house and in roundtable fashion to allow the fans to connect with the drivers they cheered for when they dominated the local speedway scene. Camping World driving star Sean Corr was on board for both shows as he re-groups for some additional racing this summer on the circuit. The legendary Modified star Bill Wimble also did both shows and sold out the limited number of books he brought in no time flat. Gary Gollub, Dick Quallio, Earl Derr, Red Coffin, Alan Carter, Bruce Young, Sammy Beavers, Ken Brenn Sr, Jimmy Maguire, Glen Ehrhardt, Ward Crozier, and Sonny, Joh nny and Thomas Strupp were onboard for one of the best shows ever in the history of the seven year old show. The event marked the first ever appearance for Sonny Strupp and he was well received by the crowd and it was fitting the three generations of the Racing Strupps were in place for the event. The questions and answer period brought many great responses from the drivers and is a lasting memory to their exploits on the speedway.
Photographers were also announced to the crowd as Bob Snyder, Ace Lane, Mel Stettler and Mike O'Brien were on hand for the event. Gerald Chamberlain was on his way to the show when his wife Joanne became ill and he returned home. Ronnie Dunstan hit an ice storm in North Carolina and also returned home.
The first show ran into the second show and another talented group of drivers interviewed throughout the duration of the evening. On hand were Carl' Fuzzy" Van Horn, Bill Wimble, Sean Corr, Gary Gollub, Dick Quallio, Wyatt Jacobus, Jimmy Magurie, Hank Rogers Jr, Lou Zrinski, Ron Lauer, Stephanie Stevens, Bridgeport drivers Mike Barone, Brett Ballard, Matt Budd and Brad Roberts, while PR man Mike Wizniewski represented his drivers and his new firm. ARDC President Sean Burke chatted about his role with the ARDC adn explained the new rules that will govern the 75 year old club in 2014. Gary Mondschein from the Vintage TQ's talked about his club and the rules governing it and had his two drivers Maguire and Rogers working the room when they were in front of the crowd. Steve Pados also introduced car owner and fabricator George Stevens to the crowd as George continues his recovery from injuries suffered a couple of seasons ago.

The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony through Greg Collins, Tri State, Friends of Nazareth and Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. On display at the Mall include big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, TSRS Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars. New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Hamlin, Accord, Action Track USA, Borger's and Snydersville will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2014 show.
The IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show, highlighting many of our racing heroes who have passed away in the past year. The great keepsake event souvenir program book has many great articles regarding our racing heroes. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. The event offers race teams a great opportunity to promote their sponsors and announce their racing plans for the 2014 racing season.
