Free to All Show Continues at Phillipsburg Mall
Great Interviews Highlight Second Night Of The Seventh Annual IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show Presented By Enterprise Car Sales
The IRCO Community Federal Credit Union Seventh Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales rolled out the second day of a week long gathering for the racing community and with it another successful day of racing stories and fun carried into the evening hours until the Mall closed it's doors for the evening. The seventh annual edition of the show will continue through March 8th with sponsorship through IRCO, Smith Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds, Martocci's Automotive, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Kim's Kreations, R&F International Muffler and Brake, Persa Auto Repair, Murante Auto Repair, Penn Jersey Super Markets and Auto and Enterprise Car Sales. Nightly interviews and 83 race cars provide the race fan a full appetite of racing fun before the regular seasons begins.
The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and offers a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show continues to be free of charge to the mall traffic and the 2014 edition of the show is the trend setter of the many shows that are scheduled during the year.
Emcee Steve Pados opened the show and introduced IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd. Collins once thanked the local racing community for their support and talked of the various offerings from the IRCO group and added the show for him is living a dream as he enjoys the great stories and meets the driving stars who come into to chat about their plans and past experiences on the race track.
R&F International Muffler & Brake, located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, sponsored last evening's event that headlined many of the smaller racing facilities in the local area. Ed and Steve Pados and Bobby Stull interviewed a great panel of driving stars from the area with major support coming from the stars of the Borgers Speedway.
Legendary racer and fabricator Rich Tobias kicked off the interview sessions by chatting about the Slingshot and SpeedSTR cars he constructs at his Meyerstown shop. To date more than 1200 of the Slingshot cars have been constructed and are doing battle from Pennsylvania to Minnesota. Rich added all of the current information about his new venture he began last season with partner Doug Rose in taking over the former Kutztown Speedway now known as Jeffrey Hogue Realty Action Track USA. Rich explained his new schedule for the 2014 racing season and with it many of the perks his speedway will offer to the fans.
Snydersville and Oreville Raceways were represented by Promoter Barry Greenzweig and his son Alex. Barry offered his plans for both speedways and felt positive banner years were ahead in 2014 for both facilities. Bob Snyder, the promoter of Borgers Speedway, offered his thoughts on the 1/7 mile paved facility that will enter their second season as a paved oval and Snyder was more than pleased with the progress of the Borgers facility. Track owner Glenn Borger was also in attendance. Alex Greenzweig joined in with the Pados Brothers and Bobby Stull to conduct the interviews with drivers who ranged from nine years old to plus seventy years old. Cody Quagliato, Kurt Bettler, Stephen Frindt, Billy Proctor, Austin Fehr, Tom Arntz, Gary Mondschein, Kyle Herve, Shelby McLaughlin, Hunter Smith, Larry Hoagland, Abbey Price, Tom Boyd, Anthony Raisner and Tex Snyder offer their thoughts and plans for the new season ahead. Stan Friedman and Bobby Butler were also in attendance.
Tuesday night at the Mall will find "The Stars of Tomorrow" racing in the Quarter Midget Clubs in the local area taking part in the interviews and many of them will be giving their first ever interviews to a sizeable crowd. These are the driving stars of the future and it is great to give them a special night of recognition as they carry on the great tradition and legacy of auto racing.
The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony through Greg Collins, Tri State, Friends of Nazareth and Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. More information is available by calling: 443-513-4456.
On display at the Mall include big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, TSRS Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars. New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Hamlin, Accord, Action Track USA, Borger's and Snydersville will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2014 show. The week-long event will set aside Tuesday evening to salute the "Stars of Tomorrow" with a special night set aside for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the area and this night has proven to be one of the highlights of the week as many will be giving their first ever interviews to a sizeable crowd. New for 2014 is the Racing Fans Memories/Open Forum for grandstand fans to chat about some of their more memorable moments while attending the races.
The IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show, highlighting many of our racing heroes who have passed away in the past year. The great keepsake event souvenir program book has many great articles regarding our racing heroes. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. The event offers race teams a great opportunity to promote their sponsors and announce their racing plans for the 2014 racing season.
