PHILLIPSBURG MALL RACE CAR SHOW TO RUN THROUGH SATURDAY, MARCH 8
MODIFIED GREAT BILL WINBLE TO MAKE SPECIAL APPEARANCE FOR SPECIAL FRIDAY EDITION OF THE IRCO DIRT TRACH HEREOS SHOW

The Seventh Annual IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales has pushed the envelope one step further and escalated the show to yet another level with another special edition of the show taking place on Friday afternoon, March 7th at 4 PM.  The legendary former two-time NASCAR Sportsman Champion "The Flying Dairy Farmer" Bill Wimble will be joining a panel of legendary driving stars to kick off the two-show Friday event. Wimble, who in conjunction with author Lew Boyd at Coastal 181 tells the journey of his storied life in his best selling book "I'll Never Be Last Again", will be signing and selling his book at the event from 4 PM until 9 PM on this special edition of the show.

The late Philadelphia Radio broadcasting legend Georgie Woods said it best when he stated, "If it's nice, we'll do it twice" and while his reference was to vinyl 45 records, the special group of legendary racing stars and racing friends who will join the pair broke many records in their right with their daredevil, hell bent for leather style of driving behind the wheel or turning the wrenches as a car owner.  Dubbed the "Legends of Racing", such great stars as Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn, Gerald Chamberlain, Ronnie Dunstan, Sammy Beavers, Richie Smith, Gary Gollub, Richard Marinelli, Leroy Amey and Red Coffin will sign autographs and trade numerous fun stories regarding the "Golden Age of Racing" as they remembered it best.  The show will continue throughout the evening hours as Event Grand Marshal Ken Brenn Sr, Ken Brenn Jr, Jimmy Maguire, Ron Lauer, Lou Zrinski, Hank Rogers and many others from the open wheel ranks of the URC, ARDC, TSRS and Grandview and Bridgeport Speedway.

Bill Wimble resided in upstate New York and where his journey in racing began.  After close to twenty years and 250 wins behind the wheel of a race car, Wimble retired from the sport after a horrific accident at the Lebanon Valley Speedway where he was crowned the speedway champion in 1968 with more than a month remaining in the season. Wimble on to become a very successful businessman and owned more than 25 businesses in his very successful foray into the business world.   Wimble was a 14-time track champion at eight different speedways with five of those titles coming at the famous Fonda Fairgrounds.  Wimble captured wins at many of the speedways of the day and although he belonged to the NASCAR  organization, traveled into the Lehigh Valley area to race at Harmony, Reading, Nazareth, Flemington and Nazareth National Speedways and made his presence well known at every speedway in which he competed.

Wimble was the NASCAR Sportsman Champion in consecutive seasons in both 1960 and 1961, was the New York State champion on five occasions and was the Connecticut State champion twice.  Wimble was among five additional friends that rescued  Marvin Panch from his burning Maserati in 1963 at Daytona and for their heroics received the prestigious Carnegie Bronze Medal for Bravery.  Wimble is a member of many Hall of Fames regarding his racing exploits and was honored by AARN as one of the top 25 Modified drivers of all-time.  Wimble drove for many owners in his illustrious driving career but most fans will always pair him with the famous Dave McCredy owned, Fred DeCarr wrenched signature numbered 33 cars of black, white and red paint schemes.  Wimble also did a short stint with legendary car owner Paul Deasey of 707 fame.

The upcoming 2014 edition of the Seventh Annual IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales continues to fill in all of the necessary pieces as the Show has enjoyed two solid days already for the successful event that highlights the past, present and future of auto racing all together under one roof at the Mall in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.  Additional sponsorship for the show includes Smith Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds, Kim's Kreations, R&F International Muffler & Brake, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Martocci's Automotive, Persa Auto Repair, Murante Auto Repair and Penn Jersey Supermarkets and Auto.  The event work staff has poured their hearts and souls into the project and their hard work and dedication shows well with the finished product.

The longtime broadcasting team of Ed and Steve Pados from Gasoline Alley fame, veteran announcer Bobby Stull and former Lake Mocatek co-announcer Justin Beltrame will man the mikes for the duration of the show.  The "Golden Era" of auto racing from the late fifties through the early eighties was an era that saw many changes take place in the way the race cars were constructed. The word "stock" gave way to ingenuity at first and followed closely by technology as the race cars became less stock appearing and relied more heavily on the latest speed part that would make the race car go faster. While the years have changed the look and the cost of racing, the spirit of the competition remains much as it was when racing in the local area was launched. The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony through Greg Collins, Friends of Nazareth and Snyder Photos and Snyder Videos will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits.

More information is available by calling: 443-513-4456.  In the previous events, cars on display included big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, Late Models, go-karts and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars. New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Hamlin, Accord, Action Track USA, Borger's and Snydersville will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2014 show. The week-long event will set aside Tuesday evening to salute the "Stars of Tomorrow" with a special night set aside for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the area and this night has proven to be one of the highlights of the week as many will be giving their first ever interviews to a sizable crowd.

The IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales will again offer a great keepsake event souvenir program book and shirt. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. The event offers race teams a great opportunity to promote their sponsors and announce their racing plans for the upcoming 2014 season.
