Seventh Annual IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show Presented By Enterprise Car Sales Concludes With Heartwarming Tribute To Ken Brenn

The IRCO Community Federal Credit Union Seventh Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show presented by Enterprise Car Sales successfully completed it's week long journey for the racing community yesterday with a heartwarming tribute for Hall of Fame car owner Ken Brenn and the Brenn Family through the efforts of the Flemington Speedway Historical Society. The Saturday event highlighted a tremendous week long show that proved one again the fans come out to see the legendary people that forged the foundation for what racing is all about.  The seventh annual edition of the show would not be a successful venture without the sponsorship efforts of IRCO, Smith Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds, Martocci's Automotive, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Kim's Kreations, R&F International Muffler and Brake, Persa Auto Repair, Murante Auto Repair, Penn Jersey Super Markets and Auto and Enterprise Car Sales.

Nightly shows with interviews and 83 race cars provided the race fan a full appetite of racing fun before the regular seasons begins. The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and offered to the fans a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show. The show has continued to be free of charge to the mall traffic since the show's inception and the 2014 edition of the show is the trend setter of the many shows that are scheduled during the year.  Kim's Kreations Lettering and Apparel was the presenting sponsor for the final day of the show.

Emcees Ed and Steve Pados were spot-on as they opened the final day of the show to a standing room only crowd that even filled the corridors of the extensive mall.  They introduced IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd and Collins once again thanked the local racing community for their solid support and talked of the various offerings from the IRCO group. Collins added the week long show is living the dream for him and for many of the people he spoke to throughout the week. Collins then paid tribute to veteran announcer Bobby Stull, who has been an integral component of the show since the show began in 2008, with a plaque in recognition for his dedication and support of racing and the Dirt Track Heroes Show.

Ed and Steve Pados along with Bobby Stull were honored once again to interview a great panel of driving legends from the local area who came to pay tribute to Ken Brenn. Flemington Speedway Historical Society President Mark Harrington was introduced first as he was instrumental in putting the tribute to Mr.Brenn in motion. The legendary Modified star Stan "The Man" Ploski followed and praised Brenn for the great cars he fielded and the true professional and friend he is. Dennis Tretter, the gentleman who has meticulously restored the Brenn number 35, also spoke of the fact he was happy to restore the race car but for him the bigger thrill was to meet and share lasting memories with Mr. Brenn.  Others on hand to pay tribute and have fun in the close to three hour show included Bobby Rossell, Leigh Earnshaw, Dirk Adriannse, Bill Brown, John Bate, Don Kreitz Sr, John Peters, Dennis Smith, Bing Metz, Manny Zilli, Johnny and Thomas Strupp, Tom Ervin, Wyatt Jacobus and Jimmy Maguire.

Once completed, Jimmy and Ken Brenn Jr were brought to the stage area and they talked of shared life stories and racing with their father.  Ed and Steve Pados added their thoughts on the true mark of the man Mr. Brenn personifies. The man of the hour, Ken Brenn Sr was then introduced to a standing ovation from the crowd and Ken talked about how thankful he was for the tribute and added many more stories about his time in racing and the many friends he has met through his life's work. The show was fabulous and the Friday and Staruday shows have already been recognized as two of the bets shows witnessed at any shows of this type.

The show has once again been a success and for those who have helped make the show a success, the IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show staff thanks each and eveyone of you. This has been a year in which many of the local racing community have left us and their passing leaves us with a heavy heart. Some of the drivers that were slated to appear and ran into problems we can only hope to see them next year when the show rolls around. Show Promoter Bob Miller also had to bow out of the weekend when he became ill and we wish him a speedy recovery.

The great fan base of racing came out to this grand Mall event and with a full itinerary of interviews and race cars were transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races.  All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony through Greg Collins, Tri State, Friends of Nazareth and Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video showed their vast collections of photos and memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks were open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits.  More information is available by calling: 443-513-4456.

On display at the Mall included big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, TSRS Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars. New Egypt, Bridgeport, Hamlin, Action Track USA, Borger's, Oreville, Mahoning, Dorney Park and Snydersville were among the speedways involved with the 2014 show.

The IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show, highlighting many of our racing heroes who have passed away in the past year. The great keepsake event souvenir program book has many great articles regarding our racing heroes. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM.  The event offered to race teams a great opportunity to promote their sponsors and announce their racing plans for the 2014 racing season.

News for the 2015 show will be delivered in a timely manner. Thank you once again to eveyone who came out to play a role in the success of the show and to the fans, "You are the greatest"!
