USAC Wingless Sprint Car Preview: The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on May 29

Newberrytown, PA (May 28, 2013) – The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. This will be a special USAC wingless preview day as any local wingless sprint car will receive a free car entry for the test & tune. The USAC wingless Sprints will visit SSP on Sunday, June 9. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.

Due to the completion of only half the Wednesday Night Test & Tune on April 24, all pit passes and car entries from the April 24 Test & Tune may be used for half credit ($6.00 towards pit passes and $10 towards car entry) for any Test & Tune session through October 23, 2013. Pit passes from April 24 must be presented for credit.

Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

Newberrytown, PA (May 28, 2013) – On Saturday night, June 1 racing returns to the Big Track at the Susquehanna Speedway Park featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors/Mini Vans, PENNMAR Vintage Cars and a Figure 8 race on the frontstretch.

The Figure 8 racing began last season at SSP with three events. This year’s events will pay the following purse - (10 or more cars): 1) $300; 2) $150; 3) $100; 4) $75; 5) $50; 6-10) $25. for 9 or less cars the purse will be – 1) $200; 2) $125; 3) $100; 4) $50; 5) 25. The rules for Figure 8 racing may be found at www.sspracing.net.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Sunday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

On Friday night, May 31, the second race of the Spring Shoot-Out Series will be held at the SSP Outback Track for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars. The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m. Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license. Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee. Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00. Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.

Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00. Ages 2 & under are admitted free.

The 9-race Summer Shoot-Out Series will begin on Friday, June 28. There will be separate point champions crowned from both the Spring and Summer Shoot-Out Series.

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, May 29. This will be a special USAC wingless preview day as any wingless sprint car will receive a free car entry for the test & tune. The USAC wingless Sprints will visit SSP on Sunday, June 9. Last Saturday night, Dover’s J.R. Rodriguez claimed his first Late Model win of the season in the 21a Memorial Day Championships in remembrance of Mike Zeigler Sr. at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night. Littlestown’s Randy Zechman won his third feature of the season in the Street Stock 21 lapper. York’s Travis Horan won the 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by York Haven’s Daryl Sipe for his fourth consecutive. Mountville’s Donny Groff claimed the Mini Van feature. Matt Wallace of Mt. Airy, Maryland won the 20-lap Classic Car feature event.

- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.

- Free Pit Passes for all Non-Qualifiers in 2013 – Any non-qualifier who starts the a qualifying heat race and fails to qualify for the feature in the Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions during the regular season point events will receive a complimentary pit pass for the driver for the following week during the regular season from April 6 though September 14. The driver must possess a full annual SSP license in order to be eligible for the complimentary pit pass and pass is not transferable to another driver or to another week beyond the following week.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2013 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2013. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
