BACK SHOWS MAKE FRIDAY MAGICAL AT 6TH ANNUAL IRCO DIRT TRACK HEROES
CAR SHOW
The IRCO
sponsored Sixth Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show continued to pick up momentum on
Friday as the show hosts were magical with their third consecutive year of doing
dual shows for the loyal fans of racing. The show moves into its final day on
Saturday with two more shows that will conclude an excellent week long run at
the Phillipsburg Mall. Another great line-up of legendary drivers are expected
to be on hand for the final day as Flemington Speedway dirt era drivers will be
featured in the first show slated for 12:30 to be followed shortly thereafter by
"Pavement Afternoon" when Flemington, Dorney Park, Mahoning and Mountain
Speedway pavement drivers are interviewed.
After a jam
packed Mall crowd on Sunday opened the show, each additional day of the event
has brought out good sized crowds and the dual show format on Friday has always
proved to be a fan favorite to the point where Saturday's show will give the
fans two more shows to see their racing heroes behind the mike. The popular
IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show will close at the Phillipsburg Mall on Saturday
March 16 at the closing of the Mall at 9 PM. Penn Jersey Super Markets will be
the sponsor for the final day of the show.
Ed and Steve
Pados and Bobby Stull proceeded into the driver interviews on Friday with "The
Legends of Racing" chat session that allowed the drivers to free wheel and
candidly chat about their racing exploits, some that were racing related
and additional stories that created some loud laughter throughout the Mall
walkways. Modified legends Red Coffin, Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn, Frankie
Schneider, Newt Hartman, Whitey Kershner, Blaine Sadler, Alan Carter, Jimmy
Maguire, and car owner Richard Marinelli all took a turn at the mike to relive
some of their favorite racing stories. "The Everett Express" Gerald Chamberlain
had car trouble and was a late arrival but remained on site for the second show
and to sign autographs.
After a quick
recess, the second show was initiated and Wyatt Jacobus, Gerald Chamberlain,
Nate Strunk, Barry Suydam, Jimmy Maguire, PJ Garguilo, Ron Lauer, Josh Weller,
Dave Adams from Bridgeport Speedway, Mark Manieri, Kurt Bettler and Matt Janisch
were among the drivers that took part with the show. IRCO Vice President Greg
Collins was on hand to thank everyone for their continued support of the
show.
The great fan
base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to
a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half
hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. All historical racing
groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony, Dorney Park, Tri State, Friends
of Nazareth and Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video will have their memorabilia
on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look
at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to
purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. More information is
available by calling: 443-513-4456 or you may log on to the home page of the:
www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com web site.
