MY THOUGHTS ON SPORTSMAN SAIL PANEL CARS

Well if we are going to be stuck with the current billboard 358 modifieds of today, that do not resemble a stock bodied production car on the street, even without the sail panel's. Then it makes no sense to me to consider putting them on a sportsman car that has even less power, and running a track the size of grandview.

Personally if things were up to me, I would go the exact opposite way, and make the body on the cars even smaller. This would help distinguish the two classes. (picture above is a perfect example) I believe this would also help the sportsman drivers learn more car control in the long run, and be better off if they decided to move into the 358 ranks down the road, jmo..

But what the heck do I know, depending on when these guys run their feature, it may turn out that some of the sportsman drivers may need the extra panel to lean on to keep the show moving along:) Sometime's less is better though. It's short track racing for crying out loud!

This should be interesting as the season goes on. I guess time will tell.. It seems the poll is a 50/50 split on the stuation. What's your opinion? Leave a comment here, or in the chat box if you would like.

  1. I think they should go back to the smaller bodies, bring back some flavor in body style like it was back in the 70's and 80's. make these guys learn how to set up cars without all the down force. JMO Paul Madsen

  2. I agree Paul, let's get back to basic's. I think it would help cut on the cost of feilding a car also.
