DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY ADDS THIRD DATE TO RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES, 358 SPRINTS INVITED TO COMPETE IN ALL URC SHOWS

A third date at the Delaware International Speedway was added to the Rislone URC Sprint Series for 2012. The URC sprints will open the coming season at Delaware International on Saturday, April 28 followed by return visits on Saturday, June 30 and Saturday, September 1. URC has a twenty-one race schedule visiting twelve different tracks to include Williams Grove, Selinsgrove, Lincoln, Port Royal, Grandview, Big Diamond, New Egypt, Black Rock, Winchester, VA, Potomac and the Bridgeport Speedway. The series will visit the states of Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey as URC celebrates their sixty-fifth consecutive season.

New for 2012, URC will open the door for the 358 sprints to compete with URC on a weekly basis. The 358 sprints must follow the URC sprint car specifications, tire rule and URC will follow the Williams Grove motor rules to tech the 358 sprints. A whistler will be used for teching the 358 sprints and they will follow the same handicapping format as the 360 sprints for all regular shows. URC has received calls from several 358 sprint teams that have interest in running with URC at various events throughout the season. URC Owners John and Cher Zimmerman and Bob Miller all agree that this is a good opportunity for new drivers and owners to sample the URC experience which offers a strong purse, numerous bonus payouts, a solid point fund, reasonable tire costs, strong teching and officiating, and a travel smart schedule.

Earlier this year, URC announced their move to double-file starts. On all restarts, lapped cars will fail to the rear and go one lap down to the field, with the exception of one "lucky dog". The "lucky dog" will go to the highest place car that is one lap down to the leader and, he will get his lap back but will go to the tail of the lead lap cars. Upon the display of the yellow flag, all cars will fall into a single file format and the restart line-up will be communicated over the in-car radios.

Special events are plentiful over the course of the 2012 Rislone Sprint Series and include the prestigious Rislone Nationals at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, August 3rd. The weekly URC handicapping format will be used in place of time trials for this event, with one exception. The Williams Grove 358 sprint drivers that are in the top twenty in points at the Grove will be seeded into the line-up based off their point ranking. The URC approved American Racer tire will be required on both the left and right rear for the 360 sprints and for the 358 sprints, they will be required to run a URC approved American Racer right rear.

The popular MACH1 Chassis Jack Gunn Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway is set for Saturday night, May 12 and will pay $3,500 to the winner. For this event, all 360 sprints must run the URC approved American Racer left and right rear tires and only the Selinsgrove 358 sprints may run the Selinsgrove approved Hoosier tire. Time trials and the event format for this show will be the same as previous years.

A URC membership will carry some very important entitlements in the coming year. Bonus money at regular shows to include heat race winners money will be paid only to teams where the winning driver and owner hold a valid URC license. Some designated bonus money and contingency awards will only go to URC members. URC is working on additional bonus money to be paid at specific special events, and to eligible for the added payoff, both the driver and owner will be required to be a URC member.

Thanks to American Racer and support from Rislone, URC competitors will enjoy a very attractive tire pricing. An American Racer right rear will sell for $159, the left rear for $155 and fronts may be purchased for $138, and this is unheard of pricing for sprint car tires today. Adjusting the tire pricing through sponsorship support from American Racer and Rislone, will help with cost cutting for all URC competitors throughout the entire Rislone URC Sprint Series.

URC is also reworking their point fund for the coming season. The top ten owners in points will share the point fund at season end. Details on the point fund and requirements to earn the money will be announced shortly. As a cost cutting effort for their competitors, URC will not have a season end banquet, but as we did in 2011, URC will have a salute to the champions including fireworks and it will take place at the season finale at the Pioneer Pole Buildings URC event at the Grandview Speedway.

URC once again has strong sponsorship support from Rislone, Bar's Leaks, American Racer, Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc, Engler Machine & Tool, Brad Penn, Fred's Trailer Parts, Viper Venom Fuels and Taylor & Messick. More information to come on special events and bonus money opportunities for URC Members in the coming season. 2012 will be the year to be a URC member to gain the financial rewards being offered to URC's weekly competitors.

The URC Chip Reward program is off to a quick start. The URC Chip Reward Program awards one chip per driver or owner when they do a press release, display their car in a show, participate in a promotional function including URC's nightly autograph sessions all taking place between January 1 and October 13. At the season finale, there will be a drawing with $500 going to the winner. The more events or promotional activities you do, the more chips you earn, increasing your chances of winning the drawing. So far this season, Ed Aikin has earned 3 chips, Jonathan Swanson 2, Tim Hogue 2, Robbie Stillwaggon, JJ Grasso and Steve Downs have earned one chip. To be eligible for the drawing, the driver or owner must be a URC member.

URC license applications are now available and posted on the URC website under the competitors page. All event sheets will be posted shortly on the website for every URC special event, providing details for the event to include payout, rules and race night procedures. In some cases, the bonus money will be paid only to URC members so it is critical that drivers and owners obtain a URC license for 2012.
