RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

ED AIKIN PLANS TO WIN RACES IN 2012 AND SEE IF THAT LEADS HIM TO A URC CHAMPIONSHIP

Ed Aikin of Lincoln Park University, PA was victorious in one of URC's richest paying events of 2011, winning the Rislone URC season finale at the Grandview Speedway on October 15. The event was sponsored by Pioneer Pole Buildings, INC with a $1,000 bonus added by Viper-Venom Fuels and Aikin cashed a check for $4,000. It was not an easy win as Aikin and Dave Ely exchanged the lead numerous times, as Robbie Stillwaggon began reeling in the leaders in the final laps. Stillwaggon passed Ely for second but ran short of time to challenge Aikin for the win. The victory for Aikin was a thrill, not only winning at his home track, but the lucrative winner's share will be key in providing his team the necessary funds to prep for 2012. "That win meant everything! . . . . we are going to take it one race at a time and just try to win races, we'll see where we are in the standings in July and go from there", commented Aikin, owner of six career Rislone URC feature wins.

In 2011, Aikin delivered a strong season on the strength of two wins and a twelfth place finish in the point chase. "I feel I have the best crew chief around, that being Brian Seidel", added Aikin. Seidel, a former URC driver champion knows well the tracks where URC visits and is very familiar with hitting the right set-up. Joining Seidel on the Aikin Team are crew members Steve Taylor, George Loux and Mike Krewson. The Maxim Chassis Don Ott powered Aikin machine will carry sponsorship from BRB Site Contractors, TANRACINGCOLLECTIBLESONLINE.COM, CnB Mushrooms and Atlantic Speed along product sponsors Radical Design, Don Ott, VRP Shocks, DMI and SDS Web Creations.

On August 3rd, 2007, Ed Aikin scored what possibly could be the biggest win of his career, winning the Rislone Nationals at the prestigious Williams Grove Speedway. Winning at the Grove, collecting the $4,000 payday and beating some of the best sprint car drivers in the business, move this victory to the top of his career win list. Since the Rislone Nationals started in 2006, Aikin is the only URC regular to win this national event. Past winners include Pat Cannon 2006, Ed Aikin 2007, Kenny Adams 2008, Aaron Ott 2009, Daryn Pittman 2010 and Lance Dewease was the 2011 winner. When asked if this was his biggest accomplishment in racing, Ed Aikin quickly replied, "Absolutely! It doesn't get any better then winning at the Grove and beating a field of fifty-eight sprint cars that year".

The United Racing Company made some changes at mid-season 2011, first, to pay out in two increments, over $15,000 cash in a Rislone Loyalty Program, and to cancel their prestigious annual awards banquet. The ultimate goal was to get the point fund money in the hands of the competitors as soon as possible and so the teams could avoid the cost of attending the banquet. "Being a low to no budget team, I fully understand what URC is trying to do and I support anything that can save all the teams money in this economy. However, any team that works hard enough all year to win the very tough championship, would be a little disappointed that they could not celebrate their accomplishment," added Aikin.

The Rislone URC Sprint Series for 2012 is set to open at the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, April 14.
