FAIRGROUNDS MALL CAR SHOW

Reading Car Show gears up for 27th year. . . . .

FAIRGROUNDS SQUARE MALL ANNUAL RACE CAR SHOW & REUNION TO SALUTE 50 YEARS OF GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19 TO THE 25TH

Grandview Speedway will steal the spotlight February 19 to the 25th, 2012 when the Fairgrounds Square Mall opens their doors for the annual race car show. Grandview Speedway, a one third mile high banked dirt track in Bechtelsville, PA (Berks County) will celebrate their 50th year of operation in 2012, topping off an exciting season with their very popular Freedom 76'er, paying a historic $50,000 to the winner of the most prestigious race for modifieds in the area.

Along with Grandview Speedway, other race tracks and organizations as well as race cars from various divisions of auto racing will fill the Fairgrounds Square Mall, located on the 5th Street Highway in Reading, PA. Vendors, race teams, motorsports advertisers are once again invited to be part of this off-season mega race car show that is free to the public. Nightly activates are planned along with many special guests, including Dave Kelly, winner of the final race held at the Reading Fairgrounds 'Speedway. Kelly is planning to return to his former stomping grounds for the Friday night Legends Reunion portion of the show.

The Fairground Square Mall now occupies the property that once was the famed Reading Fairgrounds Speedway. The annual car show brings back many of the race fans, drivers , car owners and track officials who have so many fond memories of the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway. In 2012, Grandview Speedway will be part of the Friday night Reunion as past driver and owner champions will be asked to attend and participate in this salute to Grandview Speedway as well as the Reading Fairgrounds.

The Fairgrounds Square Mall management is thrilled with this event and looks for a big show to open on Sunday, February 19.

Bob Miller, event founder along with co-event organizer Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports had a lengthy discussion on Thursday about the plans for the coming event. Both Miller and Deyo feel the weeknight activities are strong, showcasing the numerous local and small car divisions of racing and the focus of the 2012 event will be to build a spectacular weekend conclusion to the show on Friday night, February 24th with the Reunion and Saturday, February 25th with perhaps a "kids in racing" Day.

This popular off season event continues to preserve the great memories of racings' past, promote the popularity of current day short track racing and introduce the up and coming young talent that will be the future of the sport.

Registration procedures and more details will be forthcoming over the next two weeks. For additional information, contact Bob Miller at TOTHILL98@aol.com or Brett Deyo at Deyo99H@aol.com
