Newberrytown, PA (November 6, 2011) – The 7th Annual Candy Bowl at the Susquehanna Speedway Park presented by J&K Salvage of York was postponed on Saturday, October 29 due to a record October snowfall blanketing the speedway. The race, rescheduled for Sunday, November 6 found Alex Bright winning the 20-lap wingless ARDC Midgets over Dusty Heistand and Steve Drevicki. Tyler Walton became the seventh different 600cc Micro Sprints Candy Bowl winner by claiming the 20-lap feature event over Shane Lewis. Walton adds his name along with the likes of Cody Darrah, Ben Murphy, Brent Marks, Jimmy Brookens, Heath Henley and Shane Lewis, all previous Micro Sprint Candy Bowl victors.
Jared Umbenhauer claimed the 20-lap Sportsman Modified feature over John Kovatch and Ryan Beltz. A.J. Desantis was the early leader until he relinquished the lead on lap 3 after spinning in turn one and two.
Roy Wareheim Jr. led from start to finish claiming the 25-lap Byers Tires Thundercars main event. Harlon Leppo picked up the Legends Cars 20-lap feature victory. Joe Robertston won the 20-lap Sidewinder Sprint feature. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe picked up the 15-lap Mini Van Feature also collecting his fourth Candy Bowl victory. Al Kessock rolled his van early in the race and continued without caution to finish in the runner-up spot.
Before the midget feature began, the cars and drivers in all divisions were brought to the frontstretch for the large crowd of children in costumes to trick or treat. This was also a great opportunity for everyone to visit their favorite drivers to get pictures and autographs.
