STRUNK AND SCHUTZ TO BE HONORED AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY BANQUET NOVEMBER 19TH
GILBERTSVILLE, PA October 14, 2011... It can only be called incredible. Jeff Strunk will be honored at the annual Grandview Speedway banquet on Saturday, November 19th for winning his ninth NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified championship. It is an incredible record of performance that will probably not be matched by anyone else. And the amazing part is that he will be back in 2012 to try for a 10th title.
On the same evening Chuck Schutz will receive his rewards for winning his 5th Late Model title at the Bechtelsville clay oval.
During the course of the evening the top twenty drivers and top ten car owners will be honored for their outstanding efforts during the 2011 season with thousands of dollars in point fund money being paid by both the track (the Rogers family) and NASCAR.
In addition there will be a variety of special awards presented in both divisions of racing, 358 Modifieds and Late Models, including Rookie of the Year, Best Newcomer, Most Improved Driver, Sportsmanship, and others.
The much sought after Jerry Glase Memorial Award will go to an individual who works behind the scenes for the sport and there will be the presentation of the Grandview Groove Most Popular Driver Awards.
Included in the evening will be a home style dinner, music for dancing, a great evening of socializing in addition to the awards presentation. Racers are reminded that they must be on attendance to receive their awards and point fund money.
Tickets are available for just $35 each and may be ordered from Vicki Gehris at 610. 367.2776 after 3 p.m. each day. The banquet takes place at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall.
The 2012 season will mark the 50th consecutive season of racing at Grandview Speedway and will include as the season finale the annual BPG Racing Freedom 76 on September 15th which will pay $50,000 to win.
