RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

FOUR RACES, FOUR WINNERS SPARK RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

With four races now in the books for the 2011 Rislone URC Sprint Series, four different drivers have visited the URC victory lane.   Daryn PIttman won the Rislone URC Series opener at the Bridgeport Speedway as the crafty veteran Kramer Williamson took the win at the Delaware International Speedway.   Race three took place at the Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY where 2009 URC Champion JJ Grasso dominated the field.  Most recently, on Saturday night at the Selinsgrove Speedway in the sixth running of the Jack Gunn Memorial, Shane Stewart of Indianapolis, IN won the thirty lap thriller after being pressured the final ten laps by Blane Heimbach.

Stewart was driving the Scott McClaren owned sprint car which ironically won this event the last two years with Trevor Lewis in the seat.   Lewis ran second in both events, then on the last turn of the final lap, he passed Pat Cannon for the win.  Lewis decided over the winter months to sit out the 2011 racing season but car owner Scott McClaren was determined to go after his third consecutive Jack Gunn Memorial victory.

The tables were turned on McClaren in this event.

The previous two races it was the McClaren #21 chasing leader Pat Cannon for the win.    Saturday night at Selinsgrove,  it was McClaren's #21 setting the pace with Shane Stewart at the controls as Blane Heimbach and Pat Cannon were trying to make the last lap pass.   Heimbach came very close but did not pull off  the upset victory.

"This place is just hard on nerves", said a jubilant McClaren in the Selinsgrove victory lane.    When asked if he preferred leading or running second on the last lap, McClaren was quick to respond, "It doesn't matter as long as we finish here in victory lane".

Shane Stewart, a true professional  in 360 sprint car racing was a class act in victory lane.  Stewart was quick to compliment event Promoter Charlie Paige for his efforts in getting the show completed under the challenging weather conditions.  He complimented URC for their well run program, the excellent track conditions and of course, a hats off to Scott McClaren and his hard working crew.   "It's not easy to win any race and it's even more of a challenge when you're not racing weekly, you have a different driver and, you show up at a track where you don't race every week", McClaren added, "but my team brought it all together and that's why we are standing here tonight".

The Rislone  URC Sprint Series will next be in action with a two race weekend in the state of Delaware.  Saturday night, May 28 will be the first stop at the Charlie Cathell owned Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, DE.  The following night, Sunday, May 29, URC will be just down the road at the Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE.
