Short Track Super Series Modifieds Return To Susquehanna Speedway For York County Nationals July 30; $10,000-To-Win Modified 50 On Tap; 358 Late Models & Central PA Legends Complete Card

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA – Not only will the Modifieds return to Susquehanna Speedway in 2017, they will do it in style!

On Sunday, July 30, the Newberrytown, Pa., oval will host the York County Nationals for the Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP big-block/small-block Modifieds the second time after a debut last summer. In the upcoming season, however, the event will be more lucrative.

Susquehanna owner Scott Gobrecht, general manager Kolten Gouse and STSS organizer Brett Deyo will offer the winner of the 50-lap event a massive $10,000 to win! This is an increase from the $5,000 winner’s share offered a year ago.

The Susquehanna event will be the richest race of the 2017 STSS Velocita South Region.

“Hands-down, the most positive feedback we have received from racers and fans came from our inaugural event at Susquehanna last year,” Deyo said. “The racing was second-to-none and the facility is top-notch.

“We believe a $10,000-to-win show, on neutral ground, at Susquehanna will be something to see!”

Gobrecht felt the boosted purse will spark the show.

“Last year, we were ‘new’ for the Modified supporters,” he said. “They didn’t know what to expect because it had been 10 years (since the last Modified appearance). After the show they saw last year, this event is ready to go to the next level.”

Gouse, whose background is in Sprint Car racing, enjoyed the Modifieds at Susquehanna.

“It was three-wide racing, non-stop,” he said. “The Modifieds put on a show that we’ve only heard great things about. We want to build on that and make this a race everyone looks forward to.”

Joining the STSS Modifieds on the card are the 358 Late Models with an increased purse event: $1,000 to win and $125 to take the green flag, plus the Central PA Legends.

A year ago, Ringoes, N.J., driver Ryan Godown etched his name on the Susquehanna win list in a thriller over Ryan Watt, Jeff Strunk, Stewart Friesen and Jimmy Horton.
