CHANGES BE MADE IN GRANDVIEW HANDICAPPING SYSTEM, PRACTICE SET FOR MARCH 28‏

CHANGES MADE IN GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY HANDICAPPING SYSTEM
NEW SYSTEM HELPS RACERS AND WELCOMES NEWCOMERS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 22, 2015 . . . In an effort to help current racers and welcome newcomers to Grandview Speedway NASCAR racing management has made some changes to their handicapping system for the 2015 season.
“We are making changes that have been requested by racers and the changes should add to the excitement of stock car racing at Grandview,” said track owner Bruce Rogers. “The new system will be a big help to newcomers so they are not penalized all season.”
                The existing point system…
1. For the NASCAR 358 Modifieds will remain with one exception, there will be no consolation race points awarded, only heat race points and feature points.
2. NASCAR 358 Modified Feature Points: 1–300 points, 2-290, 3–280, 4-270, 5-260, 6-250, 7-240, 8-230, 9-220, 10-210, 11-200, 12-190, 13-180, 14-170, 15-160, 16-150, 17-140, 18-130, 19-120, 20-110, 21-100, 22-90, 23-80, 24-70, 25-60, 26-50, 27-40, 28-30, 29 (and all other feature starters)- 20.
Those racers not qualifying for the feature will be awarded 10 points.
Modified Heat Points will be awarded as follows:
When 5 racers qualify for feature: 1-10 points, 2-9, 3-8, 4-7, and 5-6
When 6 racers qualify for feature: 1-10 points, 2-9, 3-8, 4-7, 5-6, and 6-5
When 7 racers qualify: 1-10 points, 2-9, 3-8, 4-7, 5-6, 6-5, and 7-4
And when 8 racers qualify: 1-10 points, 2-9, 3-8, 4-7, 5-6, 6-5, 7-4, and 8-3
FOR THE SPORTSMAN AND BRC LATE MODELS the points will change to eliminate the huge gap between the last feature finisher and the non-feature starters with the 24-car slated starting fields. Also no consolation points will be awarded.
1. Sportsman & BRC Late Model Feature Points: 1-250, 2- 240, 4-230, 4-220, 5-210, 6-200, 7-190, 8-180, 9-170, 10-160, 11-150, 12-140, 13-130, 14-120, 15-110, 16-100, 17-90, 18-80, 19-70, 20-60, 21-50, 22-40, 23-30, 24 (and all other feature starters)-20. Non-qualifiers- 10.
Sportsman and Late Model Heat Points: Same as Modifieds.
FOR ALL DIVISIONS!! The handicapping will be based on a full season point average… total points earned divided by the number of races entered. Concerns with drivers who may not be experienced enough to and/or may not have cars capable of starting in front of or in the field, will be addressed by track officials. Those drivers will be placed at the rear of the field by handicappers per their decision.
A driver must have raced in at least 3 of the five most recent races to be handicapped. Drivers not meeting this requirement will be lined-up at the rear of the field.
A newcomer must run at least three of the last five races as well. If a new driver starts during the year to be a regular, he will compete in at least three race events starting to the rear before he will be handicapped.
If a driver misses a week to race at another speedway, he will start at the rear for one week.
One exception to the above is the Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings for Modifieds. In order to be handicapped for this event drivers must:
Run in at least 3 of the 5 most recent races AND at least half of the point races run during the season to date OR at least 4 of the last 5 races….. This means an outsider will either start at the rear or must run in at least four races in the last five to establish a useable point average for Forrest Rogers Memorial handicapping.
The number of events run in each division will be based on car counts as follows: 24 or fewer cars = 2 heats, no consolation; 25 to 36 = 3 heats and 1 consolation; 37 to 48 yields 4 heats and 2 consolations; 49 to 60 cars will yield 5 heats and 3 consolation races.
Questions about the new point system can be addressed at the Saturday, March 28th practice session. Track activity will get starting at noon and the session is open to all types of race cars.
The point battle, for the NASCAR and track titles, will get the green flag on Saturday, April 4th at 7 p.m. and will feature the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman as the 53rd consecutive season of stock car racing gets started.
Adult admission is $15 for regular events such as the season opener and youngsters 11 and under are admitted FREE.
