PA Sprint Series added to the Candy Bowl Lineup

ARDC Winner’s Share Raised to $1,000-to-Win

Newberrytown, PA (September 30, 2014) – The 10th Annual Candy Bowl presented by J&K Salvage of York will be held on Saturday, October 25.  This event will feature the PA Sprint Series, Wingless Midgets, ACMS Stock 600cc Micro Sprints, Sportsman Modifieds, Legends Cars, and Sidewinder Sprints.  There is no entry fee for any division racing at the Candy Bowl.  The raindate will be Sunday, October 26 with the same time schedule.

Before the PA Sprint Car feature begins, the cars and drivers in all divisions will be brought to the frontstretch for the children in costumes to trick or treat.  This will also be a great opportunity for everyone to visit their favorite drivers to get pictures and autographs.

The open comp Sportsman Modified race will follow the generally accepted Sportsman Modified rules throughout local tracks in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York (no 4 bbl carbs permitted).  Sail panels are permitted and the minimum weight rule will be 2,450 lbs for cars with aluminum wheels and 2,375 lbs for cars with steel wheels.  The 20-lap feature will pay $1,000 to the winner and $100 to start.

The wingless Midgets will compete under the National recognized Midget Rules and the 20-lap feature will pay $1,000-to-win ($100 to-start), thanks to an anonymous sponsor adding monies to the winner’s share.  There is no entry fee for the event as normally charged for sanctioned races.

The open competition 600cc Micro Sprints has been replaced with the ACMS Stock 600cc Micro Sprints as to not conflict with the Linda’s Speedway National Open on the same day.  Past Candy Bowl winners that include Cody Darrah and Brent Marks have gone on to current successful 410 Super Sprint Car careers.  Others who have added a Candy Bowl victory to their resumes include Ben Murphy, Jimmy Brookens, Heath Henley, Shane Lewis.  Last year, Tyler Walton became the first driver to capture the 600cc Micro Sprint portion of the Candy Bowl twice.

Gates will open for the pit area at 11:30 a.m. and grandstand area at 12:00 p.m.  Track Prep Laps begin at 1:15 p.m. with racing action beginning at 2:00 p.m.
