Sagi
Claims Late Model 50 Lapper at SSP on Saturday Night
Next
Wednesday Night Test & Tune on October 1
Newberrytown,
PA (September 27, 2014) – Alan Sagi of Hagerstown, Maryland won the 50-lap Late
Model feature event presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park on Saturday night as part of the 9th Annual Susquehanna
Showdown. Logan Wagner of Harrisonville
won the 25-lap PA Sprint Series Interregional feature.
On
the initial start of the Late Model 50 lapper, last year’s winner Sam Gallagher
took the early lead from outside the front row.
Chase Billet and Randy Christine Jr. followed the leader waiting for the
opportunity to make their move. On lap
7, lapped traffic began to be a factor for the front runners. Gallagher got by the first lapped car, but
Billet tangled with that car and was forced to retire from the race. This regrouped the field behind Gallagher as
Christine Jr. set his sights on the lead.
Meanwhile, Alan Sagi moved from an eighth place starting spot to sit in
third on the lap 7 restart. A few more
caution flags through the midway point of the race forced a fuel stop on lap 28
in order to be able to finish the race.
After
the fuel stop, Sagi began to make his charge to the front. On lap 30, Sagi passed Christine Jr. and
immediately began to challenge the leader.
Four laps later, Sagi was able to secure the lead and set the pace for
the remainder of the race. Sagi went on
to take the feature by 6 car lengths over Gallagher. Christine settled for a third place podium
finish. Grant Adams finished strong in
fourth with James Jesmer rounding out the top five. Tommy Salnker, Adams and Christine won the
heat races.
In
the Sportsman Modified 25-lap feature, Brett Kressley took the lead on the
initial start from outside the front row over Kevin Beach. The event saw on caution flag on lap 21 that
bunched up the field for a 5-lap dash to the finish. On the restart, Kressley continued to set the
pace over Beach with a clear speedway in front of him. Kressley went on to take the checkers over
Beach, followed by Shawn Fitzpatrick in third.
Paul Kline and Ken Eckert Jr. finished fourth and fifth places
respectively. Heat race wins went to the
Kressley and Beach.
The
20-lap All American Outlaw feature took the restarts to get the race going, but
once underway, Carrie Fryfogle took the lead over Hunter Nester. The next lap, Nester took over the top spot
ad never looked back to take the victory over Bryan Green. Fred Cullum bested Justin Cullum for third at
the end. Early leader, Fryfogle settled
for fifth. Nester and Keim were the heat
race victors.
The
next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, October 1. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with
practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The

entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Each session will be 4-6 laps per session

will not be open. Anyone needing fuel
