9th Annual Susquehanna Showdown $2,000-to-win for Late Models Set for Saturday,  September 27
Sportsman Modifieds Make Second Visit to SSP This Season;
Next Test & Tune at SSP on Wednesday, October 1
Newberrytown, PA (September 23, 2014) – The 9th Annual Susquehanna Showdown at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night, September 27 is highlighted with a 50-lap feature for the 358ci Late Models and a 25-lap Sportsman Modified race.   The All-American Outlaws will also make their sole visit to the Newberrytown oval of the year. The Late Model race is presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic.  The Late Model winner will earn $2,000 for the victory. 
The Late Models will qualify through heat races and last chance races.  The top three in each heat will draw individually for their starting position in the 50-lap feature.  The highest SSP point driver not qualifying through the heats or last chance races will be given a provisional 25th place starting spot.  The Late Models will follow the general SSP Late Model spec rules found on the website with the exception that the weight after the race shall be 2300 pounds or more and any 11” Hoosier tire is permitted.   The general spec rules from the following speedways will also be accepted from Williams Grove Speedway; Hagerstown Speedway; Bedford Speedway and Grandview Speedway (No aluminum blocks permitted from any speedway).  There will be a $100.00 entry fee for only the Late Model drivers which will include their pit pass for entry that night. 
The open comp Sportsman Modified race will follow the generally accepted Sportsman Modified rules throughout local tracks in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.  Sail panels are permitted and the minimum weight rule will be 2,450 lbs for cars with aluminum wheels and 2,375 lbs for cars with steel wheels.  The 20-lap feature will pay $1,000 to the winner and $100 to start.  There will be one more Sportsman Modified race held at SSP in 2014 at the Candy Bowl on Saturday, October 25.      
 
On Saturday, gates will open for both the pit area at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstands at 4:00 p.m.  with qualifying action beginning at 6:00 p.m.  General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $25.00.   The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.   
The raindate will be Sunday, September 28, if necessary.
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune for any type of racecar will be on Wednesday, October 1.   The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination).  Each session will be 4-6 laps per session depending on car count.  The grandstands are open free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 4/6 laps each or more if time permits.  The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open.  Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181.  The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
 
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”
At last year’s 8th Annual Susquehanna Showdown, Sam Gallagher won the 50-lap Late Model feature event presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic.  This brought Gene Knaub’s three-year reign of the event to an end.  Logan Wagner of Harrisonville won the 25-lap PA Sprint Series Interregional feature.  The event was postponed from Saturday to Sunday due to rain.

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, September 17 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park.  It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval.  The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination).  Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.  Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session.  The grandstands are open free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.  The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open.  Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181.  The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
 
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”
 
- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent for testing and tuning purposes.  The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,500.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams.  Only one car is permitted on the track at a time.  If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour.  For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights. 
 
The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams.  To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696. 

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2014 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2014.  There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only.  Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes.  The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
