WATT ELECTRIC IN BIG DIAMOND TRIUMPH, WAMPLER, HABLETT, AND LAWRENCE ALSO TAKE FRIDAY NIGHT WINS

MINERSVILLE, PA - April 20th, 2014

Ryan Watt took the lead on lap 10 and led the final 20 laps to take home the $3,000 payday at Big Diamond Speedway Friday evening in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 358 Modifieds.  The victory was the 5th of Watt's career at the Schuylkill County oval.  Tom Umbenhauer, making his first start of the season, led early from his pole starting spot before 4th starting Meme Desantis took over the top spot.  Desantis led until lap 10, when Watt was able to beat him to the line by inches just before a caution flag came out.  On the ensuing restart, Watt was able to win the drag race to turn number one and take the top spot for good.  During the closing laps, heavy lapped traffic came into play, allowing Desantis to close, but he could never get close enough to mount a serious challenge to Watt.  Desantis held on for second, and also emerged the night as the early season Modified points leader.  Rick Laubach came home third, followed by Jeff Strunk and Frank Cozze.  Sixth thru tenth were Doug Manmiller, who started 20th in the Breitenstein Motorsports #14 machine, Stewart Friesen in a second Norm Hansell mount, rookie Brett Kressley, Dan Hineline, and rookie Joe Mooney.

In the Jeremy Slifko Fabrication Service Late Models, Billy Wampler took the lead at the drop of the green from his outside pole starting spot and was never seriously challenged, leading all 20 laps for his first victory of the season.  With the win Wampler also took over the series points lead.  Scott Haus made a late race charge to finish second, followed by Chase Billet, Bryan Bernheisel, and Steve Nederostak.  Danny Snyder, opening day winner Sean Merkel, Andy Haus, Bryon Sipe, and Drew Weiser rounded out the top ten.

In the Savage 61 Roadrunners, Tom Hablett made it two for two, taking the lead late in the race and holding off a late charging Chris Holland for his second victory of the season.  Jim Kost came home third, followed by Terry Kramer Jr., and Jeremy Becker.  Shon Elk, Jason Brown, Chuck Eckert, Glenn Rowan, and Tim Fitzpatrick Jr. completed the top ten spots.

In the first ever Outlaw Enduro Series 20 lap "Enduro Dash", Matt Lawrence was able to take the victory by the absolute slimmest of margins at the stripe, edging out Tyler Lucas for the win.  Both drivers went to victory lane until the finish came down from the tower.  It was that close.  Joey Young, Mike Koppenhaver, and Scott Peters rounded out the top five.

Racing returns to Big Diamond Speedway this coming Friday, April 25th, with the first and only appearance this season of the Rislone Sprint Series United Racing Company Sprint Cars.  Also on the card are the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 358 Modifieds, U.S.S. Achey Sportsman, and Savage 61 Roadrunners.  This will be the first DIRTcar sanctioned Modified event of the season, and also the first appearance for the Sportsman cars after two rainouts to start the season.  Gates open at 5 PM, warm-ups are at 7:45 PM, and the first heat hits the track at 8:15 PM.  Adult general admission is $25.00.  Seniors, students ages 13 to 17, and active military are $23 (all with valid ID).  Kids 12 and under are free.  Pit participation fees are $30 with a license and $40 without.
