Bechtelsville, PA – “Positive thoughts” was the theme for racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday April 19, 2014 for Dan Green and the G & H Motorsports team. Sitting third in points and having 2 top 10 finishes in the first two weeks of racing gives the team, new owners, and sponsors a lot of encouragement!
During the week it was normal maintenance to the HOTROD Tracker #46 NASCAR Dirt Late Model and the team was excited to see the press release come out announcing that Bernheisel Race Cars has been named as sponsor of the Grandview Late Models. At the track the team got the Linda's Hair Techniques #46 ready for the night of racing with warm-ups the first event to the track, giving Dan the chance to make sure the car was still good to go for the night. This also gave the team the chance to see if the new GoPro camera location was going to work as Dan had decided he wanted to see if it would be secure mounted on the roof, giving the fans a birds-eye view!
Heat Race time and Dan took the NASCAR Dirt Late Model #46 out to the track to start 6th in the second 8 lap race. The race went green for 7 laps with Dan passing two cars to run 4th, the event went back to green for the final lap and Dan was able to hold on for the 4th place finish. The car not handling perfectly Dan and the team started making changes for the feature event.
Feature Time and Dan was scheduled to line up the AMSOIL #46 in 7th for the 25 lap event. Going into turn one after taking the green a few cars got bottled up and Dan used some heads-up driving to avoid two cars getting together. The caution came out for this accident and Dan was able to move up two spots on the next re-start. With the next green Dan was able to get by the #ONE Chuck Schutz and #93 Rick Todorow coming out of turn two with a nice three wide pass and then got #ZT1 John Giesler going into turn three to move into second place behind #91 Steve Butler. Then on the 4th lap Dan drove to the inside of Butler and took over the number one spot coming out of turn 2. With 9 laps completed the caution came back out for a multi car accident in turn 1. Single file restarts are what the Late Model class does, so this puts Dan out front already leading 6 laps looking to lead more. Lap 13 saw the caution come out again and let Dan pick-up the Dan's Deli ½ way leader bonus of two hoagies. Another single file restart and this time 6-time track Champion Chuck Schutz lined up in second. Lap 15 had Schutz going to the inside of Dan and taking over the lead which had Dan lead 11 laps of the 25 scheduled distance. In turn 2 the third place car of #10 Randy Stoudt and Dan made slight contact which had Dan spinning in front of the rest of the field. Thanks to some good driving good driving on everyones part no one made contact with the #46. Caution flag waving for Dan and 14 other cars now ahead of him and less then 10 laps remaining, Dan's top ten streak looked to be in jeopardy. With the green coming back out Dan was able to get by the 14th place car but took a few laps to get by the next one but then he was able to get by then next couple and then the tenth place car with 2 laps to go to finish in tenth. With the 10th place finish Dan now sits 4th in points just 87 points out of first.

All in all it was a good night with another top 10 finish and the excitement in the team seeing Dan lead the feature for so many laps will carry us into next week with the momentum! With Easter on Sunday the team packed up the car after the race and headed home so we could get up early and wash the car and then spend time with family. We apologize to any fan that may have stopped back after the race on Saturday but rest assured we will be staying after the races each week to meet any fan that would like to stop by and get an autographed hero card of Dan and the G & H Motorsports team!
