Sunday, Sunday, Sunday - Bridgeport Micro Sprint & Slingshot Poker Series Mania
Bridgeport, NJ - This coming Sunday April 27, Bridgeport Speedway will hosting its first ever ‘Poker Series’ on their quarter-mile facility. The popular ‘Poker Series’ that has taken place on the 5/8 mile track the past two seasons has now found its way to the ‘Friday Night’ program for three events, which will actually take place on Sundays. A four-division show will kick off the inaugural ‘small track’ 2014 Poker Series.
The 600cc Micro Sprints will run wingless for a nice payday of $500 to the winner, while the 270cc Micro Sprints will run a traditional wing for $300 to win on Sunday. There have been several drivers that have shown interest in the series from surrounding tracks such as Airport, Hamlin, Lanco, Lindas, and Kutztown. The best three hands will receive point fund money at the Bridgeport banquet in December.
The Tobias Slingshots will also be on hand for the first of six (three Poker) ’14 appearances. The Jeffery Houge Action Track USA sponsored Poker Series has drawn great interest among local teams in the tri-state area. The winner of the series is guaranteed $300, second-$200, and third-$100. Last season the Slingshots made two rare appearances at Bridgeport, while receiving nothing but great reviews from drivers.
Since there are only three races rather than the traditional five in the Bridgeport Poker Series, the winner of each of the first two races will pull a ‘community card’ that all competitors will receive as part of their playing hand. The winner will earn an Ace, second a King, all the way down to 13th place. The 4-cylinder enduros will round out the Sunday program. The remaining two Poker Series dates are July 6 and September 14. All gates open at 3pm with the first green flag waving at 5:30pm. For more information you can log onto the track’s website at www.bpspeedway.com or call the office at 856-467-4407.
