Sicklerville, NJ (April 14, 2014) – On Saturday, April 12, the 2014 season of racing at Bridgeport Speedway got underway. Mike Barone, the pilot of the 267 Big Block Modified, steered his Bicknell car to a ninth place finish.
On opening night at the Gloucester County race track, the Hillsborough, NJ resident was disappointed with his performance in the heat race but came back to claim the checkered flag in the consolation event. After making some adjustments, Barone showed off his ability and skill in the feature event. Throughout the 25-lap main, the eighteenth place starting Barone marched towards the front and completed the race in ninth.
With a week of preparation and additional tweaks looming, Barone is planning to compete in Bridgeport Speedway’s 60 Over Special on Sunday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. This special event will feature a 44-lap contest for the Big Block Modifieds as the Race of Champions Series makes a visit to the Southern New Jersey facility.
